My all-time favorite characters would have to be Tim Riggins, Matt Saracen, Coach Taylor, Tyra Collette, and Smash. I know those are like the most obvious characters but I guess I can just list why I like them since no one follows my blog anyway. Tim- possibly one of the funniest people ever. His famous line from season 1, “How about Matt Saracen sleeping with the Coach’s daughter?” Literally LOLed. Then theres Matt and yes, he can be annoying at times, but I love him for what he is and what he represents. He’s the underdog, the QB2 turned QB1. He takes care of his grandma that has dementia. He’s the all around good guy and I love him for that. When he pulled the state game around in season 3, I couldn’t have been more proud. When he told his grandmother, “You’re the only person who’s never left me. I’m not gonna leave you.” Cried when he said that because it was such a hard hitting moment. Now onto Coach Taylor. I mean, besides the fact that he’s insanely hot and his droopy eyes make me salivate, he’s such an amazing guy. After watching the first couple seasons, I’ve gotta say that I’m going to look for Coach Taylor qualities in my next boyfriend. I love him because he’s such a cliche, father-figure in the storyline and he always knows what to say to get the players back in the game. TYRA. Now she’s someone I can talk about for hours. I honestly love Tyra. Not to mention she’s the prettiest girl on the show, but she has the most spunk. She falls in love with Landry “the ugly guy” which I’m not really a fan of because after seeing Tyra and Tim together in Season 1 I’ve still kept rooting for them. Plus the adorable maid of honor and best man scene was so cute in Season 3. When she wrote her college essay, I was literally bawling. Here’s an excerpt: “Two years ago, I was afraid of wanting anything. I figured wanting would lead to trying and trying would lead to failure. But now I find I can’t stop wanting. I want to fly somewhere on first class. I want to travel to Europe on a business trip. I want to get invited to the White House. I want to learn about the world. I want to surprise myself. I want to be important. I want to be the best person I can be. I want to define myself instead of having others define me. I want to win and have people be happy for me. I want to lose and get over it. I want to not be afraid of the unknown. I want to grow up and be generous and big hearted, the way people have been with me. I want an interesting and surprising life. It’s not that I think I’m going to get all these things, I just want the possibility of getting them. College represents possibility. The possibility that things are going to change. I can’t wait.” One of the best things ever. When she got accepted to UT I was jumping up and down in joy myself. She defeated the odds, and that’s why I love her. Now for Smash, last but not least. In many ways, Smash’s mother reminds me of my Aunt. Loud, a nurse, and cares about his education. Smash is one of the cutest characters because although he has this arrogant, “I’m-All-That” type of attitude, he sobers up at the mention of his mother. He’s the all-time momma’s boy and I really appreciate that. He takes the advice of not only his mother but Coach Taylor and he really listens to it, which I like. He was a smart kid and in my opinion, one of the best players on the team in Season 2. I love Smash and he’s adorable when he refers to himself in the third person. And that’s it.
